Hi there, this site and rich were recommended to me by someone on another thread.
My husband has had two SA's. The first, everything was normal except for count (6m/ml) and morphology (2%). Just got results back from the second one -- it was worse, 4 m/ml and 1%. Hormone screen was normal. I can think of only two causes: varioceles (sorry if I spelled that wrong) or .... my husband is a "computer guy" who works for a software company. If he isn't traveling, he works at home. Usual position is on couch, laptop on lap. Since first SA, I've gotten him to take a good multivitamin and he is watching the laptop (moving it back and putting barrier there). He also is trying to wear boxers more. I'm not sure I could get him to take a bunch of vitamins, etc., unless he's directed by a doctor. Would a laptop alone account for those numbers? Also, he's been referred to a urologist. What can we expect from that visit? Lastly, any hope for us to EVER conceive naturally? I think I can talk him into IUI but he doesn't want to do IVF. Thanks for any help you can provide. |

Dear Crab,
Cooking the family jewels with a laptop will do it everytime. Yes low counts and lousy morphing are the results. Think of the laptop as a 45-75 watt bulb and associated heat in that area. They have laptop boards at Walmart which have fans in them to keep him and the computer cool for about $30. The visit at the Uro is straight forward. Every test is done again from blood to the S/A and rescheleduling of appointment and the dx made and what to do. Yes you may be able to concieve naturally if the laptop is the cause. Ask what you need. rich |
