Anyone ever had extremely low progesterone and got bfp - and if you did what protocol did it take and how many?

So far my DH and I have been ttc almost 3 years now and the ONLY thing that they can find is that I have low progesteron - 0.2 - and we've had every testing out there for the both of us I think. Anyhow, I am just curious to see if anyone else ever had low progesteron and got a bfp. Thanks! :)

I cant say I got a BFP, but I know that you can get pills or suppositories of Progesterone to take on certain days of your cycle to help with your levels and getting your BFP. I would definately check into that. A few of my friends had to do that and after they started taking it they got thier BFP's. They did have to continue taking it for the first three months of their pregnancy. Good luck to you.

I have low progesterone and this is one of the reasons I can't get pregnant and stay pregnant for that matter. Progesterone is the warmng hormone that keeps your uterus like an incubator. Without it, it's too cold for a baby to implant. However, you can take herbs and many types of progesterone supplements to help raise your progesterone. It is a fixable problem, so don't let it get you down!! Sorry I didn't have a 'success story' but just to know it is treatable hopefully helps a little. Good luck!

I had problems with low progestrone. I have PCOS and took clomid. I also did progesterone suppositories during my first trimester to prevent m/c. I had 2 very early ones before they discovered this problem. Has your dr. discussed trying clomid? Do you get your period regularly? With progesterone that low, you are not ovulating, so I would think they would want to try clomid to cause you to ovulate. It sounds like you have had a lot of tests done already, but I was just curious. By the way I have 2 children, so don't give up hope. I am sorry you are going through this. Infertility sucks and I wish you luck whether you continue ttc or adopt. The important part is that you will be a mother someday.

Shelby - Thanks for asking. :) I have taken the clomid 3 times, and am totally done with it - hate it and what it does to me. I have tried talking to my doctors about pcos but they just keep saying that it isn't an issue and that my egg reserve is fine - ? whatever that has to do with it. I did notice last night hair on my BB's! YIKERS! My period generally is pretty normal - within 28- 35 days or so recently.
I am positive that we will have children someday one way or another. Thanks for the encouragement from all of you. It means a lot. :)

I'm not sure when you did this progesterone test, but it would seem to me that with a level like this on or near CD21-23, then it is a sign that you didn't ovulate, which unfortunately means you cannot get pregnant. If you've been taking Clomid and then doing the test on one of those dates, it could be that the Clomid isn't at a dose high enough to force you to ovulate. You could PM me if you'd like or ask your question on the PG 101 or the What's Wrong forums. Good luck.

All the best.

Nechomah - I did the tests on CD21, so yeah, we are pretty sure that I don't O on my own. Sad, since I get my AF pretty regular and always ALWAYS every month. Really confused my doctor as most women who don't O don't have regular cycles. I guess I'm an oddball though. LOL.
My DH and I are going to do up to 3 cycles with injectibles and IUI's sometime. We were going to do it this fall, but now finacially speaking we need to wait until this time next year it looks like. My heart is breaking as we have been ttc for 3 years now, but we have to do what would be best for a little one. But if God would bless and let us get pregnant on our own in the process of waiting - great! We would definetly know that we have a little miracle baby sent straight from Heaven to us.
Thanks for all the help to all of you. It is nice to talk about our problems and actually have others understand. :) I really appreciate your experiences and your advice, means a lot to me.

I'm sorry to hear that you have such a wait ahead of you before you can feasibly TTC. It's so hard to wait for something you've already been longing for for such a long time. I sure hope you get a break for the better and are able to TTC sooner than you anticipate.

As far as your test goes, how long are your cycles normally? I hate that doctors order this test for CD21, because that goes on the assumption that a woman has a typical 28 day cycle and ovulates on CD 14. This test is supposed to be performed 7 days after ovulation, so if you normally have a 34 day cycle, then the test should be performed somewhere around CD27, got the picture. I always mention this because it could be that the test was performed too early to accurately show your ovulation. Do you BBT? Do you have a diagnosis at this point for your IF?

In any case, I truly hope that you are holding a precious bundle in your arms before long and that this nightmare of TTC will be behind you (at least temporarily if you want more than 1 child).

All the best,

Nechomah

Nechomah,
Again, thanks for taking the time to talk. :) I enjoy talking to new people on here. My cycles are all screwy. They used to be exactly 28 days apart, and that was from the first spotting to first spotting. Now they seem to be more like 32-34 days apart. THere for a while they were like 38 days apart and my doctor wasn't so happy about that. I can't remember what my cycles were when they did the testing though. Seems to me they did it like a couple days to early, but still surely if it was only 2-4 days off it still would've showed some kind of progesterone right? Maybe I'll call my doctor this month and just get one done for the fun of it on like CD25 or so.
Thanks again for helping out. I enjoy talking to you.
Oh by the way - I think it is really neat that you live in Jerusalem. I have always wanted to go and visit Israel and see everything. I was raised in a Christian home, and so it really intrigues me. Maybe someday. :)

I just wanted to let you know that even on clomid, I o'd late. With my first it was somewhere around cd 25 and with my second it was around cd 30. It might be worth getting a second opinion and see if a different re has another school of thought. Good luck!
