This past cyle I was doing Gonal-f, with Ovidrel, and IUI. It was confirmed by sonogram that I ovulated. As it got closer to my period though, I started feeling a little pain and tenderness in the ovary that I ovulated from. I was wondering if it was possible for a cyst to form even though I ovulated. I have PCOS, and surprisingly have yet to have a cyst, but I think maybe this past cycle one formed. I'm on CD 4 and the tenderness has gone away. I haven't been into the RE since my period started because we are taking a TTC break to save up for IVF and we have to pay for all fertility treatments out of pocket. I knew that if I went in I would be charged $200+ for them just to either say "yes, you have a cyst take BC" or "no, you don't, are you ready for another cycle." So...I have started BC this cycle just to err on the side of caution, but still curious to know if I cyst could have formed.

I'm pretty sure that you can get cysts any time. I had a pretty big cyst (couple of inches) from my successful FSH cycle. The cyst shrank during the first trimester and was gone by the time of my 20 week U/S.

I agree, I think you can get a cyst at anytime. I hope everything goes ok!

Yes, it is possible to get a cyst. After my 1st iui cycle I had so many RE put me on bcp for a month to let/help them shrink. I also had them after my 3rd cycle from stimming and had them up until my 2nd trimester. They can be very uncomfortable. Be careful if you excercise. My RE said no bending, twisting, jumping...they could burst. If you do have them, just take it easy. G/L!

If your insurance covers your regular gyno, why don't you go to your regular gyno telling her that you think you might have a cyst and then it will be covered and won't be considered part of fertility treatments! It's worth a shot because you definitely want to get it checked on out!

Cysts can be a side effect from fertility treatments.
Basically what can happen is that you are stimulated to produce so many eggs, then they don't all get released, or they get released and not fertilized inturn creating a cysts. When i did injectables i couldn't do back to back cycles as I always got cysts following the medicated cycle.
Some cysts can take once cycle to shrink, others take more time. The problem with cysts is that they mess with your hormones. Your body tries to deal with it as though it is a fertilized egg and it mucks with your hormones.
This is another reason why I couldn't do back to back cycles. I was told that cysts caused wacky levels and made it difficult to monitor cycles.
Sorry this is late information, but hopefully you still find some use from it.

DB I had the same problem when using injectables. I could never do back to back cycles because of the leftovers- it always created cysts.

It could also be your ovary being swollen from ovulating. I took clomid to get pregnant and my ovary was swollen...and caused pain while I was pregnant. It would come and go but pretty much lasted for a long time while I was pregnant...maybe 10wks or so. But that was because I was pregnant. I think without the hormones the swelling goes down.

Hello,
I've had once cyst in my life........
Feb I did an injectable cycle which failed. April I was scanned to start another cycle but I had a cyst and was canceled. I think(?) cyst's emit progesterone. At the end of April on the next cycle I got PG on my own. The first pregnancy in 3 years!!
So I think it helped me. I wasn't able to ask the RE cause he quit. I guess I should ask the OB.
