I'm 5 weeks along after a struggle to get pregnant after Vasectomy reversal. Last pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 weeks. Doc checked my progesterone levels, which was 16.3, he said this was low range of normal. He's leaving it up to me to decide if I want to take prometrium or not. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks!

If you feel your progesterone is low and you're worried that it might affect the pg, then take the prometrium. If the doc isn't advising against it, then it can't hurt. And even if it doesn't help physically, it would help you emotionally, knowing you're doing everything you can to make this pg stick. I do the prometrium after my IVF cycles (dr lets me do these instead of PIO!), and while it's a little messy, it gives me that extra progesterone and that extra peace of mind. I also had a m/c earlier this year, but it was due to chromosomal problems. But I still think "gosh, maybe I should have done this or that..." even though I know it wouldn't have made a bit of difference. Good luck! Sticky dust to you!!

Take it! Progesterone is the warming hormone that keeps that baby warm. At least that's how it was explained to me. Low prog can cause you to m/c. I had low prog with my DS and bled a lot and ended up taking it. I am currently preggo and using prog supp to keep my prog up. I can't hurt, so I'd just do it...especially if it makes you feel better. Good luck!! what it your edd?

thanks -
I've decided I will take it, even though I'm technically in the normal range. It makes me feel better, doesn't hurt, might help!
