I've read several articles that say acupuncture can help. Plus someone I know, who'd been trying for 3 yrs got pg recently saying the only thing different she did was have acupuncture.

So I'm thinking about trying that (hell, I've tried everything else), especially as we're probably going to start IVF treatment next month sometime.

Is there anyone out there who has tried acupuncture? Did it help? What should I expect?

Thanks

I just got a BFP on my 2nd IVF cycle. I started acupuncture 3 months prior to the cycle as I had an egg quality issue. This was how long I was told to do the acupuncture to improve blood flow to uterus and increase egg quality. I also took COQ10 supplements daily and drank wheatgrass too. I had weekly treatments for 3 months and then did a pre transfer treatment as well. I found it relaxing, the needles are very small, and I do believe it was why this cycle worked for us.

I'm going to give acupuncture a try before my FET. I called the closest center today and they charge $50 a visit. I was wondering if this is a normal amount to pay.

Patty - do you mind me asking what your hormone levels were? I'm getting ready to start IVF. In July of 2005, I had estradiol of 87 and FSH of 8.5. I'm very worried that my numbers have deteriorated since then and that I will be a "poor responder". Is accupuncture something your doctor recommended?

Hi there.

I just wanted to post to let you all know that I did acupuncture, started just about one month before my first IUI in Jan. 2005. The IUI worked and I continued with acupuncture throughout my pregnancy.

I delivered a healthy baby girl in Oct. 2005.

Sooo, I would recommend it, for sure!:p

Beata.

My FSH was 11.2, I dont know about the estrogen. My doctor was indifferent about it but said that many women do it and stand by it. I found someone I liked and trusted and am going to continue through my pregnancy.

Hi guys,

I tried for since dec04 after a m/c at 8wks. I did 2 cycles of injectables. The 2nd cycle I did accupuncture and got my bfp. I am continuing to do it to help keep the pg and help with morning sickness. I really believe this is what made the difference. I got the idea from you girls on the thread. I didn't even tell my RE. I 'll let him think it is all him. I just didn't want him to down play it.

Patty I am so happy for you! I remember you from the sept oct 2ww threads.

Thanks for all your answers. I started acupuncture a week ago. Some magnetic sort of machine detected some sort of thyroid issue and after a having a regular blood test the result revealed that it was working a bit sluggishly so the treatment is designed to improve that. Heres hoping it helps. Will let you all know if it does.

A friend of mine had a failed IVF and was taking a break to save up money for a second IVF. She decided to try acupuncture and within a month, she was pregnant, no meds! Best of luck to you.
