Hi all

Am 32 (33 on Sat); dh is 35 and have been married for 6 and a bit yrs. ttc for approx 3 yrs. Found that dh has LSC so he's been on zinc, vit c and folic and his third test came back borerline (with no reason why we cant concieve naturally)! This is positive news and a great relief.

Decided to try IUI so had my first insemination on the 30th Jan. Been for my blood test this morning (to check that OV has occurred).

AF expected on the 11th (my b'day).. so fingers and everything else crossed:)

Process had been pretty simple up this point; self administered injectables of menupur every day with a dose of pregnol 35 hrs prior to IUI.

IUI itself was rather painful for me (not sure why-supposed to be a walk in the park). Will know what to expect if there's a next time (there i go again- been really pessimistic about the whole thing. I think its because I havent actually come across a happy ending with IUI).

We are allowed one more attempt after this (self financing) then its onto IVF. Not sure why we cant skip the IUI and go straight for IVF or ICSI?
We are at the mercy of medical experts...

Anyway; I think I will be having a bad week with the lead up to Saturday... Cant sleep; have sore bbs and not sure what to think anymore...

HI Emi...It seems that ivf is the best for low sperm or any sperm problems. But docs like you to go through a couple iui's first just in case. I am about to have my 3rd iui. First with injectables. My dh's count is normal but his sperm morphology is bad (number of perfect sperm). We will do 2 more iuis and then move on to ivf.

How many follicles did you have? What was your husbands count after wash?

hi, IUI can work. my husbands sperm was really low (2 million) and we got pregnant with the 2nd IUI. the first one we used clomid and the 2nd one we didn't and it worked! there is hope! we are trying for #2 now and i'm on my
3rd IUI. I really am trying to believe that this is going to work so we don't have to go to IVF. good luck!!!!

aidianliam - i dont have the answers to those q's - i did ask the nurse but she was so dismissive that i didnt dare ask again. but after reading various threads; i am determined to be more assertive and get answers to all my unanswered questions.

AidianliamJust got the count from the nurse yesterday;
Pre the wash for IUI 85 million, 56% motility graded at between 2-3.
Post wash ready for insemination; 80 million, 95% motility , grade 3
