Hello,
Just wondering if there are any people out there with DOR. Its hard to think one may run out of eggs before getting PG. Doc said that typically when they see DOR there is a genetic problem that prevents implantation.

Hi,
I have DOR but my RE didn't say it could prevent me from implantation. He just told me that he wanted to give me 600 iu of follistim instead of 450. I'm currently on hold w/IVF because I have a thyroid nodule that they need to document as benign and take care of it before I can start IVF again. Just had my June cycle cancelled on me. I'm 43 and mostly hang out on the 36&over thread.

Ooops for some reason it wouldn't let me edit my last post. Forgot to let you know that we do IVF with AH & ICSI.

Denalda-
Im not sure if its the same or not, but I have Premature Ovarian Failure which is probably like what you have. I was tested for that X linked genetic issue, but I dont have it. I was devasted when I found out. Do you have a high FSH?
We tried IVF with donor eggs because my RE didnt think that I would respond at all to the stimulation drugs. I got PG both times but miscarried early on in the PG. Im not sure if it's due to the condition or not. They told me I should be able to carry a pregnancy full term with out problem.
We recently adopted a daughter who is almost six weeks old. We havent talked about what we will do for our next child. I got frustrated with my RE at the end, so if we do decide to do something again I would probably try to find someone else.
Have you talked about everything with your DH? What does he have to say about everything? There are a few cases of women on here who have gotten pregnant with the condition.
Good luck with things!

HI Andrea - I was just sitting here thinking I was going to start another thread when to my surprise I see your post! What country did you get your baby from?
DOR is a precursor to POF. My fsh is normal still.
DH doesn't want to talk about adoption too much until we exhaust our energies on injectables. Of course he is sad. He knew about the fragile X but neither of us ever dreams I would have less eggs with more genetic problems than FX.
I should start a seperate thread about this but a 15 year old girl i knew got preggy with twins. They were born and now she don't want the responsibility of raising them! Drives me crazy!

Denalda, do you mind if I ask how they determined that you have DOR, even though your FSH is good? I always thought FSH was the only indicator for that.

Sweetbaby - oh no, FSH isn't nessessarily an indicator of DOR. It is of POF.
1. Takes a LARGE amount of injectables to stimulate ovaries IE 600iu of
gonal-f a day.
2. I have usual less than 7 follicles on day 3 u/s.
3. I grow a low amount of folli's on that huge amount of drugs.
4. I'm a fragile-x carrier. Was born with less eggs that non-FX carriers.
5. FX carrier's with my amount of repeats have a higher chance than non-FX to go into pre-menopause.
6. They also measure the size of my ovaries.
You can have DOR without having a high FSH. DOR leads to POF which at that time one has bad FSH.

Denalda - Wow, that sounds like a lot to deal with. So the usual treatment is injectibles and IUI? I really hope this month is it for you!! What dpo are you?

Denalda-
Well good luck to you. Hopefully you will have a lucky month. They told me I still have like a 5 percent chance of conceiving someday. Not much but still something I kind of hold onto.
We adopted from the U.S. Overall it went very well. Its quite an expensive process though. I hope we will be able to adopt again in a few years. We want a brother or a sister for Jaden.
