Hi! My 16 month old son had a check up yesterday and his pediatrician noticed he had two front teeth on the bottom that are fused together. She mentioned that the pediatric dentist we take him to might put a cap on the tooth/teeth. Has anyone had this problem before? From what I read somewhere, it's not all that common? I brush his teeth every night and limit his juice to just one cup a day and he only drinks 16 ounces of cow's milk a day, so the rest of his fluid intake at meals is water. And he drinks a lot of water. I'm wondering if I contributed to this in any way. I honestly cannot remember if that was the way his teeth grew out or it became that way over time. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I've never heard of fused teeth but I 'm pretty sure that diet has nothing to do with it. I guess the concern is if his adult teeth will also be fused. What's the reasoning behind capping the fused teeth?

Hi, Karyn. I'm not sure what capping the teeth would do in this situation. I don't see as how it would really be a big problem since he's going to lose the teeth anyway, but I do know they need to make sure his permanent teeth won't be afftected. I guess we'll see what the dentist says. Thanks!
