I need some advice. Is there anyone out there who is single and has gone through trying to adopt a child or has known someone who has? I may be looking into it but am concerned as to what they look for. My mom would watch the child during the day while I am at work, but she is 70, even though she is in reasonably good health, I'm not sure how discriminating they would be.
Help, any advice would be great.

when I received my literature from the adoption agency, they said many countries over seas let you adopt as a single woman....I forget which ones they were, but I am sure if you dig, you will find some info. I don't have it anymore b/c we want to do a domestic adoption. I do know that if you are single and adopting, you have to prove that you are in good health. I read that in the literature...Good luck to you!!

Lisa, I know when we went thru the adoption classes there were a couple of women in there single and adopting. I am sure that you can do that!! I don't know if it will take a little longer if you do domestic or not. I am sure there is a perfect bmom out there just waiting for someone like yourself to raise her child. I know some country's will also allow single parents. Call a couple of agency's in your area and ask alot of questions. They should be able to help out. If you do decide keep us posted we would love to hear the entire process so we will have info for other single parents. I do know a lady who was single and adopted thru the public system but her daughter was older. Not sure if you are looking for an infant or not? Good luck, April
