I've gone through two cycles of IVF. I got pregnant both times, but had miscarriages both times as well. I am 40 years old and have one attempt left and 3 frozen embreyos to use. I want to have a baby so bad with my Husband, but the thought of going through another IVF cycle has me a little worried. My question is...How less invasive is an IUI vs. an IVF? Thanks for your thoughts...*smile*
it depends if you do a medicated or non medicated cycle for one if you do a medicated you still have to do injections but you dont have to go under the IUI is sooooo much easier but also the results is that much better that is why we skipped a medicated IUI and went right for IVF. At the time for my age 29 a medicated IUI only gave me a 35% chance of getting pregnant IVF was 65%. You have to do what you are comfortable with. Good luck!
am 40 too, haven't had IVF or IUI but wanted to wish you good luck!

I'm very confused about the prices of iui and see they vary alot. We have already spent about 20,000 dollars and hoped the iui would be less expensive. I think maybe it might be time to find another RE. Can anyone recommend one in NEPA?
Just so you know if you do a non medicated IUI alot of times it is covered by your ins that is why I did 5 of them with my OB. Again it's not medicated but it also doesnt cost anything. You have to usually do it through your reg OB not a specialist.
I feel your pain we spent 25,000 on my son and I have 2 embies frozen so that is 1,200 a year which we have paid for 2 years already and if we want to use them it is going to cost us 6,000 something we def dont have right now. It is so sad that my babies are right there but b/c I dont have money I cant use them. Makes me wonder where the octomom got all of this money for all these IVF but has no money to support her kids interesting.
Well good luck
Not sure if this is helpful or not but we did medicated IUI for 3 cycles and and 3 cycles of injectables/timed intercourse and had spent 20,000. Many people had told me I should have just moved forward with IVF due to the increased chances of getting pregnant and the amount of money we were already spending. IUI is just like a pap smear and i would guess much less invasive compared to IVF. Did they do any tests to figure out why you had the miscarriages? Also, you might want to check with the 36 and over thread to see if they could give you any extra info. Goodluck.

I did IVF and miscarried twice also. I ended up doing IUI a few years later, long story. It was medicated, but not injectables and I ended up getting pregnant first time. IUI is soooo much more less invasive. Plus my old insurance covered up to six times although if we wanted to do injectables with it, it would have been more expensive. But that option was still much less than IVF.
I just want to wish you good luck!

Thanks so much for your input. Your little girl is adorable! We have also considered adoption. We figured it would take so long, so needless to say we never started that process.
