Another question for you, Rich, please,
My dh are now more confused then ever, we have been reading up on post op care for vr.
Our doc told us that we could resume having sex 10 days after the op.
But i have only read that from one other doc and 3 other doctors recommend that you should wait 3-4 weeks to resume sex after vr.
Should we resume after 10 days, we are worried that we might ruin the operation.
Our doctor also told us that we won't have to use any kind on contraception during the first 3 months and that if i fell pregnant(which was very unlikely) within that time then it would be great. BUT on this other web site and this was from the doctor who pioneered the vr (Professor Earl Owen from Australia) he said pregnancy is not advised in the first 3 months as there is higher risk of birth defects and that contraception should be used.
Is this right 10 days to resume having sex or not, what do you think.
Thanks Kim.

Dear Kim,
10 days is fine. The doctor gave 10 days because the knitting of the parts is done and only strength occurs from this point on. He wants that part to start moving and flexing as soon as possible to prevent possible adhesions from forming and to keep it flexible. Yes there is a greater chance of birth defects during the beginning but you have to understand the more it goes boom, the more sperm are produced and you are flushing out the system of how long an acclumenation(sp?) of stuff. Now everything you hear in anything is a mix of good and bad, and to hear the latest "truth" supported by studies you have to go to Urology societies around the globe and they disagree. As for harming your husband, you're not. It will make him feel better and get things working right and if any problems arise they can be handled early.

So how soon is too soon? I've heard (read) some places say 4 days is enough....I think that is way too soon. IMO Also, do you believe that "keeping the pipes flowing" by ejaculating every 48 hours or less helps prevent scarring over.

Thanks Rich,
We feel alot better now, There is just so much conflicting information.
This Friday will be 10 days and to be honest we can't wait much longer, so we will get right to it and get things flowing.
I think thats an excellent question "a reversal wife" asked i would like to know the answer to that as well.
I'm sure I will have more questions along the way so we hope that you don't mind.
Thanks, Kim.

Dear Kim,
I do believe the more often you can do it, the less chance of scarring over. If he can do it every 12 hours, go for it. Scar tissue does not form if the area is disturbed frequently and pleasantly. The reason is for scar tissue to form it must be in close conntact with another surface. If the area is disturbed the cross binding and blocking of the tissue cannot happen. The other advantage of the frequent dancing is every time he goes, levels of Tes and fsh hormones increase making more sperm at higher levels. Also the higher levels of T with the pleasant exercise will firm him up physically and he should also have a lowering of blood pressure because release of stress. It is amazing the benefits to a married man of frequent BDing like better health, longer life and generally happier.
